<p> Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts (PAFA) saw record visitor turnout at the opening weekend of Henry Ossawa Tanner: modern spirit, a major exhibition of works by African-American artist Henry Ossawa Tanner, on 15 april. </P><br />

<p> striking example of the artist&#8217;s paintings, photographs, sculptures, watercolors and drawings, &#8220;Henry Ossawa Tanner: modern spirit&#8221; is organized by Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, where the artist studied from 1879 to 1885, and a trip to the Cincinnati Art Museum and Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. </P>
<p> The exhibition contains more than 100 works including 12 paintings that have never been shown in retrospective Tanner. It also includes the famous Tanner raising of Lazarus, the collection of the Mus? D&#8217;Orsay in Paris, career-making linen, as Tanner won his first international recognition when it was exhibited in 1897 and never have crossed the Atlantic. </P><br />
