G. Russell Peterman search of historical literary novel, West of the Mississippi River during the American Civil War. Finding few opportunities this retired teacher with a master’s degree in American history from Vanderbilt University and Bachelors in Education, has decided to write it yourself. “Lucks Wild: Civil War Story” is the result of luck. Stated history buff veteran writer Peter Mans search, starting with the many hours of research, novel, which shows his passion and knowledge of this historical niche.

Most people think that civil war in the Eastern war, with perhaps a passing mention of the Mississippi, New Orleans, and Vicksburg, said Peterman. Almost all the books I’ve ever met on the subject gave the same treatment to the east. So I decided to write a story about the civil war in the West, he added.

“Lucks Wild” is characterized not only time during the civil war, but also gives insight in the West before, during and after warall west of the Mississippi, true to the original intention of the authors.

chronicling the life and travels of Colin Dymond, a fictional young man from southwest Missouri, the novel opens, after his mother died, followed by a trip west with his father in the California gold rush. From there, Peterman revive adventure and general experience of life in late 1850 to mid 1860, with Dymond cross several state lines, facing death and loss find love and marriage that ended the war and trying to Life moves forward in early America. (Modern readers will find particularly interesting historical descriptions looking for a husband, a blend of romance and pragmatism in a way very different from our present age, which makes even speed dating seems like a long courtship !).

so many stories gives only a glimpse of the hero in a week or a month at a time, the author explains. This book allows the reader to look at eight years of life signs. This time, before the war, wartime and postwar gives the reader more historical context than looking at a short day, month or year. This is a story not just one incident.

Nearly one out of every one hundred and fifty years after the American Civil War, still the consequences of loss of life and health of many of them with us today. For example, still many churches in America retain elements of particular northern or southern identity. And of course, after the release of slaves, segregation finally ended, the civil strife of human rights continues to exist and continue even today, as evidenced by the existence of programs like affirmative action. Still, much has been achieved, the author acknowledges, especially given the country’s election of a president of African descent.

G. Russell Peterman hope that while entertaining readers with an exciting story, “Lucks Wild” will promote a greater understanding of the sacrifice of those who lived and died during the American Civil War. After three years in the U.S. Army and a year in the National Guard of Missouri, comes Peterman estimates that serve on the side of them, at a price

eve of the Civil War, America had more unmarried women and widows than any other time in the history of our people, says the author. How often think children never born because of this war? He speculates
